Urbanism and Life on the West Coast

Somber Autumn

Late autumn is in fact my least favorite season in Vancouver. Fall foliage begins to fade, promising only darker, colder days ahead. Minutes continue to drain from the day, with the added slight of daylight saving time for those of us who prefer afternoon to morning. To psychologically cope until the solstice, I normally take comfort in the pattering of November rain. It is meditative in its consistency, gently falling for days on end as the month unfolds. The solace of the rain, too, has been missing this November.
